Law Mugadhuyi is a public health professional and qualified Social Worker whose work is grounded in a deep interest in people, health systems, and the ways in which evidence can be translated into meaningful change. He holds a Master of Public Health in Social and Behavioural Sciences and a Bachelor of Social Work from the University of Cape Town.

His academic and professional journey has brought together research and direct experience of working with people in complex health and social settings. His MPH research explored healthcare workers’ perspectives on how stigma influences healthcare access for older people living with HIV in South Africa. He has also contributed to public health research at UCT, including a scoping review on interventions to reduce HIV-related stigma among older people living with HIV in sub-Saharan Africa, which was published in AIDS Care.

Beyond academia, Law has supported patients and communities through social work placements at Groote Schuur Hospital and Valkenberg Psychiatric Hospital, experiences that shaped his understanding of the human realities behind public health challenges. As a Mastercard Foundation Scholar and former Chairperson of the UCT Mastercard Foundation Scholars Council, he has also developed a strong interest in leadership, collaboration, and creating opportunities for others.

Law is particularly interested in healthcare access, public health innovation, research, and the use of technology to address real-world challenges. He approaches his work with curiosity, empathy, and a belief that meaningful solutions should be both evidence-informed and grounded in the realities of the people they are intended to serve.
